Messaria is a beautiful village almost at the center of Santorini, about 3.5 kilometers southeast of Fira. The village dates back to the 17th century, while in the 19th century, it was the industrial center of the island, boasting cave houses and elegant mansions. Today it has a different sense of beauty as it exudes a classy atmosphere, while from some parts of it, visitors can see beautiful views of the shimmering waters of the Aegean Sea in the distance, as well as the stunning landscapes that surround the village. More than its picturesque look and beautiful views, Messaria offers a tranquil and very genuine atmosphere, away from the more crowded touristy areas, yet close enough to all the main attractions on the island.
